STAR MAGIC CELEBRATES 25 YEARS




This 2017 is set to be the biggest and brightest ever for the local tinsel town as ABS-CBN’s premiere talent management Star Magic celebrates a milestone. This year, Star Magic is slated to give back to those who have welcomed them in their homes and who have showed them unwavering love in the last 25 years by bringing its stars closer to them through a series of exceptional events and projects.

“ASAP” gave a prelude to #StarMagic25, the yearlong 25th anniversary celebration. But the event kicked off during a thanksgiving presscon attended by the country’s top love teams, the most dapper leading men, the champion singers and network’s biggest stars headed by Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Jodi Sta. Maria, Angelica Panganiban, Jericho Rosales, and John Lloyd Cruz. The event’s highlights include the official announcement of Star Magic’s events for the whole year, the launch of the official theme song of the 25th anniversary “Ikaw Ang Magic ng Buhay Ko” written by Young JV with music by J. Lukban and the release of the unique #StarMagic25 memorabilia, which includes t-shirts, mugs, accessories and cosmetic kits under ABS-CBN Licensing.


The Year of the Rooster started strong for Star Magic through the well-received primetime soaps of bankable Star Magic artists like Zanjoe Marudo in “My Dear Heart” and Bea Alonzo in “A Love to Last.” But February is bound to be bigger as it officially became a month of love thanks to Star Magic’s most popular love teams Valentine offerings. There’s Star Cinema’s “My Ex and Whys” of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano and TBA Productions’ “I’m Drunk, I Love You” of Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino.


In the TV scene, Maja Salvador’s revenge-themed banner soap “Wildflower” together with Vin Abrenica and Joseph Marco , which also happens to be the same airing date of the romantic-thriller “The Better Half” starring JC de Vera, Shaina Magdayao, Carlo Aquino and Denise Laurel.


After their successful concert at the Big Dome, the “Divas US Tour 2017” featuring Yeng Constantino, KZ Tandingan and Angeline Quinto will mark the beginning of the Star Magic Tours which would start at the Alex Theater, Los Angeles on February 17, Pechanga Casino, San Diego on February 18, and Pittsburg High School, San Francisco on February 19.
 March is all about movies and concerts for Star Magic with Sofia Andres, Devon Seron and Joseph Marco’s horror film “Pwera Usog,” which premieres on March 8. Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual’s new tandem with Yen Santos is debuting in the big screen on March 29 through “Northern Lights” while Jericho Rosales will be making his movie comeback through “Luck at First Sight” also this coming March.  


OPM Pop Sweet Heart Janella Salvador is finally getting her first digital concert on March 5 thanks to One Music PH while the “ASAP” Birit Queens composed of Angeline Quinto, Klarisse de Guzman and Jona will be hitting the SM Mall of Asia Arena stage together for the first time on March 31.
In the sports scene, Gerald Anderson is set to make the country proud as the Philippine representative to the Los Angeles Marathon on March 19. While Piolo Pascual, Matteo Guidicelli and Ivan Carapiet would be continuing their annual triathlon tradition by taking part on Ironman 70.3 in Cebu come August.
 April is slated to be blockbuster tandem KathNiel’s month as Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel

Padilla would be debuting their fifth romance film titled “Can’t Help Falling In Love” along with Matteo Guidicelli, as well as their first fantasy soap “La Luna Sangre.” King of Teleserye Theme Songs Erik Santos, meanwhile, will be conquering the Solaire Resorts & Casino stage through his April 7 major concert.
 In cooperation with the The Filipino Channel (TFC), April would also see the most number of Star Magic Tours featuring Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Kim Chiu, Janella Salvador, Rayver Cruz, Darren Espanto, Robi Domingo, Eric Nicolas, and Bea Alonzo, which starts in Tampa, Florida on April 8 , Vancouver, Canada on April 9 and ends in Great America, San Francisco on April 15. Piolo, Sam, Rayver, Robi, Xian and Kim would then visit Las Vegas for a one-night only event on April 14. Comedians Pokwang and Chokoleit are part of “Coco X Funtastic 4,” which would have the following shows: Toronto on April 7, Montreal on April 8, New York on April 9, Santa Ynez, California on April 14 in, and Glendale, Los Angeles on April 15.
 The biggest and brightest stars would once again converge by May 21 to mark the Grand 25th Star Magic Anniversary Celebration in Araneta Coliseum as part of “ASAP.” During that same month, Paulo Avelino’s Gregorio del Pilar biopic titled “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” along with Aaron Villaflor and Jason Abalos would have come out, as well as Sofia Andres’ film “Yaying.”


The Star Magic Tours would resume by June 11, which would be followed by the London Barrio Fiesta come July 15 and 16. Star Magic’s official basketball team would also be leaving for Qatar for an exhibition game by July while the local tinseltown would see a thanksgiving cocktail-cum-trade-launch event during that same month.
The artists’ athletic side would come out at the “Kapamilya Playoffs” this coming August 5 featuring basketball and volleyball. By August 12, “ASAP” would bring their showmanship through “ASAP in Toronto Canada.”
 Shining Star Magic stars will align at the glamorous 11th Star Magic Ball, which happens on September 9 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The prestigious and fashionable night would also mark the launch of the digital version of the annual Star Magic Catalogue.
 After Europe, Star Magic Tours would be taking on Asia by bringing 25 artists to Singapore on October 29, which happens to be the same month when box office star Daniel Padilla’s would be staging his fourth major concert in Araneta Coliseum.
November’s big events, meanwhile, include Star Magic Gives Back, a simultaneous charity event, spearheaded by Star Magic artists around the metro. The annual Sunpiology racing event would also return during this same month. Before the year ends, Star Magic Tours would be taking on the Middle East by visiting Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
 Furthering their reach in other mediums this year are Pokwang, who would be releasing her first ever book under ABS-CBN Publishing titled “Nagmahal, Nasaktan, Nagluto, Nagpatikim.” The Hashtags, Enchong Dee, Maricar Reyes ,Yeng Constantino and Piolo Pascual are set to follow suit as they would also be releasing their own books within the year.
Returning and new pairings would also be available to the moviegoers this year. There’s John Lloyd Cruz who would be reuniting with Sarah Geronimo “Dear Future Husband” and there’s the tandem of Kim Chiu and Matteo Guidicelli who would be reuniting in the horror flick “The Ghost Bride.” New pairings would also be seen on the flick “Dear Other Self” which would star Jodi Sta. Maria’s together with Joseph Marco and JC de Vera. The small screen would, meanwhile, would see fresh tandems this year starting with Ritz Azul, Paulo Avelino, and Ejay Falcon in “The Promise of Forever” as well as “Pusong Ligaw” with Sofia Andres and Diego Loyzaga.
 A good 25 years since it was established and Star Magic continues to make magic as it boasts of a roster of over 350 talents composed of award-winning actors, world-class singers, champion performers, celebrated hosts, emulated beauty queens, and innovative comedians, top of mind endorsers which make an enviable line-up that makes the presence of Star Magic felt in all aspects of entertainment.
